| id |
| dc.description.abstract | The Palabuhanratu and Blanakan waters in the south and north of Java Island have considerable fisheries potential and play an important role in national fisheries production. Squid is one of the fishery commodities in Palabuhanratu and Blanakan waters. High market demand has led to high squid fishing pressure which has an impact on ecosystem imbalance in the waters of north and south of Java Island. This study aims to analyze the food composition and trophic niche of Uroteuthis spp. and Sthenoteuthis sp. squid in the waters of Palabuhanratu Bay and Blanakan. Squid were caught using waring, purse seine, and tonda fishing rod during MaySeptember 2022. Data analysis included relative eye diameter, largest part index, food niche area, food niche overlap, and trophic level. The results show that diet composition of Uroteuthis spp. consisted of pieces of fish, crustaceans, mollusks, annelids, and unidentified food; while the diet of Sthenoteuthis sp. consisted of pieces of crustaceans, fish, and mollusks. The main food of Uroteuthis spp. and Sthenoteuthis sp. squid are fish and crustaceans. Squid in the waters of Palabuhanratu Bay and Blanakan play a role as carnivorous animals and occupy the position of trophic level IV in the marine food web. | id |
