Education policy underwent changes. Changes in curriculum policy were based on the results of evaluation, analysis, predictions, and the various challenges faced could continue to change. The independent curriculum gave teachers the freedom to create educational and enjoyable learning. Teachers were the first group to feel the impact, so this study focused on the impact on teacher workload. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the fluctuating value of teacher workload on the implementation of a curriculum based on Semester Credit Units. This research was conducted from February 2023 to March 2023 located at SMA N 1 Demak and SMA N 2 Demak as a pioneer school that had implemented a curriculum based on the Semester Credit Unit system. The theory used in measuring teacher workload was the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) with the sample in this study being teachers at SMA N 1 Demak and SMA N 2 Demak. The results of the Independent sample T-test showed that teacher workload in the dimensions of mental demand, physical demand, time demand, performance, frustration levels, and effort levels were significantly different from the implementation of the Semester Credit Unit-based curriculum at SMA N 1 Demak and SMA N 2 Demak.
