Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is considered to have the potential to be cultivated in tropical regions as animal feed. Liming is required to support the growth and production of alfalfa. This study aimed to determine the optimal dosage of dolomite liming for the growth and productivity of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) on latosol soils in the tropics. The study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 30 replications. The treatments included AD0 = 0 tons ha-1 dolomite; AD1 = 1 tons ha-1 dolomite; AD2 = 2 tons ha 1 dolomite; AD3 = 3 tons ha-1 dolomite; AD4 = 4 tons ha-1 dolomite. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's test if significant differences were found (P<0.05) soil pH, plant viability, plant height, stem diameter, branches count, leaves count, leaves loss, leaves color and plant production. In conclusion, the application of 4 tons ha-1 showed the most optimal results in increasing the growth and production of alfalfa plants.
