Indonesia produces 21,88 million tons of waste in 2021 and 50-60% of the total waste is organic waste. Waste management carried out by utilizing BSF (Black Soldier Fly) larvae as bioconversion agents which can also used as koi fish feed. Koi fish need additional carotene to increase the brightness of their body color. This study aims to analyze the bioconversion characteristics of organic waste with BSF larvae, produce and apply larvae with addition of carotene as koi feed, and analyze the color quality of koi. This study included an analysis of bioconversion characteristic including the percent reduction value, WRI (Waste Reduction Waste), and FMCR (Fresh Matter Consumption Rate), koi feed application, and analysis of the koi colors quality. The bioconversion characteristics of the organic waste with BSF larvae that consumed 100% food waste resulted percent reduction 79,1%, WRI 5,7%, and FMCR 44,6%. BSF larvae that consumed 50% food waste and 50% carrot waste resulted percent reduction 81,8%, WRI 5,8%, and FMCR 44,6%. Application of BSF with carrots increased the color of koi fish from 7,0 to 7,3 because the feed had a higher carotene content. The results of LCH (Light, Chroma, Hue) analysis showed koi fish can absorb carotene from larvae that eat carrot waste.
