Abstract: This study was conducted to find out correlation between the characteristic of prostirutes with their perception about family :functions and the perception differences about family :functions between prostitutes who received rehabilitation program ( experimental group) and the prostitutes who did not receive any rehabilitation program ( control group). The research is significant because it can provide guidelines for policy making process (Department of Social Affairs) to cope with prostitution problem. Moreover, it also will give advantages to the Government ofWeat Java and social workers in working with prostirutes. The method of this research was a survey descriptive, using a quasi experimental method with static group comparison design. The analysis unit of this study is prostitutes as individual. Since the sampling frame had been !mown, the simple random sampling technique was employed to select the experimental group and the purposive sampling technique was applied in selecting the control group. The primary data sources are 30 members of the experimental group and 30 members of the control group. The secondruy data were gathered from the chairman of PSKW and the social workers. Quantitative analysis was employed by using statistical teat such as frequency distribution, mean, U-Mann Whitney and Rank Spearman Correlation teat by utilizing Microstat program. The results of the study indicate that there are significant differences between the characteristics of prostitutes and their perception about family :functions among the prostitutes who received rehabilitation program and who did not receive any rehabilitation program. In other words, rehabilitation program was succeed in changing the perception of prostirutes about family :functions, into a positive manner. Moreover, the results also reveal that there are positive correlation between the characteristics of prostitutes and their perception about family :functions. Based on the results, the researcher suggests that: First, the agency's services should be emphasized on social rehabilitation program. This stressing is significant to modify the perception prostirutes about family :functions to be more adequate. Second, society should be educated, so they would accept ex prostirutes in their lives. This program is called distigmatiwtin11. Third, the involving of prostitutes in rehabilitation program should be improved with the stressing on enhancing the awareness of the advantages and process of rehabilitation. Finally, the need of continuing research to the ex prostitutes so the results of the rehabilitation program can be monitored Qualitative research would be representative in gathering data about prostitutes.
