The textile industry is one of the industries that support economic development in Indonesia. Samia cynthia ricini is a type of eri silkworm widely cultivated because it has high economic value. However, the production of eggs of S. c. ricini in large numbers cause problems due to limited feed availability, so a method is needed to regulate the hatching time. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the length of lighting (photoperiod) to the length of time of hatching and embryo development in the silkworm eri. The observed variables were hatchability, mortality, hatching time, and embryo development. Providing 8 hours of light and 16 hours of darkness (8L:16D) during hatching shows a slower hatching time and can delay hatching time by around two days. Embryo development did not show significant differences in each treatment.
