penduduk Sumatera Barat sebesar 33.671,73 ton, dimana tahun sebelumnya
produksi di Kabupaten Solok surplus 16,67%. Perlu upaya perbaikan sistem
kentang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan faktor-faktor yang
mempengaruhi penentuan kalender tanam kentang di Sumatera Barat; menduga
neraca air tanaman kentang selama proses produksi; dan menentukan kalender
tanam optimum untuk pertanaman kentang. Penelitian dilakukan di daerah
Kecamatan Lembah Gumanti dengan pengambilan data primer melalui
wawancara terstruktur, analisis neraca air metode Thornthwaite and Mather dan
memenuhi kebutuhan air tanaman. Periode defisit tersebut antara lain Bulan Maret
2019, Agustus III – Oktober III 2019, Februari III – Maret II 2020, Juli III –
Agustus I 2020, Januari III – Februari III 2021, dan November III – Desember I
tahun tanam. Setelah dilakukan validasi, waktu dan pola tanam optimum kentang
dan komoditas lainnya antara lain, Tahun 2018-2019, kentang (Oktober I) –
bawang merah (April I) – Cabai (Juli I); Tahun 2019-2020, kentang (Maret III) –
cabai (Juli II) – bawang merah (Juli III); Tahun 2020-2021, bawang merah
(November III) – kentang (Maret III) – bawang merah (Agustus I). Tahun 2021-
I) – kentang (April II) – bawang merah (Agustus III); Tahun 2022-2023, bawang
merah (Desember III) – kentang (April III) – bawang merah (September I-II). Potato is one of the main horticultural crops in West Sumatra after shallots and chilies. This commodity is located in several production centers, one of which is Solok Regency. In 2019 the potato harvest area in Solok Regency was recorded at 1,962 hectares with a production of 39,285.8 tons. Meanwhile in 2020, the harvested area has decreased to 700 hectares with production of 14,282.5 tonnes, with the same productivity of 20 tonnes per hectare. This resulted in the non- fulfillment of the potato consumption needs of the West Sumatra population of 33,671.73 tons, whereas the previous year production in Solok Regency was a surplus of 16.67%. Efforts are needed to improve the cultivation system and increase the planting area (harvest) to increase potato production. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the potato planting calendar in West Sumatra; predict the water balance of potato plants during the production process; and determine the optimal calendar for potato growth. The research was conducted in the Lembah Gumanti Sub-district with primary data collection through structured interviews, Thornthwaite and Mather method balance analysis and validation of air balance calculations with farming parameters obtained from the Agriculture Service of Solok Regency. The results showed that the factors that determine the time and pattern of planting for the next one season include weather (31%), seeds (27%), pests (21%), and economy (21%). Meanwhile, the most dominant parties in deciding the time and pattern of planting include farmers (88%), farmer group consultations (7%) and extension workers (5%). The water balance in this area is reflected in the surplus and deficit conditions of available groundwater during the planting period. In 2018-2023, deficit conditions occurred at several planting times so it was uncertain at that time, or efforts were needed to add irrigation water to meet the needs of aquatic plants. The deficit periods include March 2019, August III – October III 2019, February III – March II 2020, July III – August I 2020, January III – February III 2021, and November III – December I 2021. The output of this water balance is a planting calendar diagram for one planting year. After validation, the optimal planting time and pattern of potatoes and other commodities include, 2018-2019, potatoes (October I) – onions (April I) – chili (July I); In 2019-2020, potatoes (March III) – chili (July II) – shallots (July III); Year 2020-2021, shallots (November III) – potatoes (March III) – shallots (August I). In 2021-2022, the recommended time and the best planting pattern are shallots (December I) – potatoes (April II) – shallots (August III); In 2022-2023, shallots (December III) – potatoes (April III) – shallots (September I- II). |
