aditif komersial. Motor vehicles emit exhaust gases that have an impact on air quality. Poor motor vehicle exhaust emissions are the result of incomplete combustion of fuels, such as CO and HC which can degrade air quality. Chlorophyll has the potential to be an additive to reduce vehicle exhaust emissions. This research utilizes chlorophyll of cassava leaves dissolved in toluene and Span 80 to complete combustion. Chlorophyll was extracted by sonication method and characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometry and FTIR spectroscopy. The addition of Span 80 surfactant can reduce the polarity of the chlorophyll additive so that chlorophyll is more soluble in fuel. The chlorophyll F2 additive with the composition of chlorophyll:toluene:Span 80 (1:210:20) showed the best performance, reducing 57.9% CO levels and 73.4% HC levels. Chlorophyll additives showed better performance than commercial additives. |
