Abstract: Kebanyakan masyarakat memakai ulang minyak goreng (minyak jelantah), salah satunya ialah mendaur ulang menjadi green avtur.
Most people reuse cooking oil, one of which is recycling it into green avtur. The used cooking oil was converted through hydrodeoxygenation and hydrodecarboxylation pathways using NiMo/γ-Al2O3 catalysts with different Mo/Ni ratios, which were 3.87% and 8.75%. This study aims to compare the Mo/Ni ratios against sulfur reduction and fossil oil triglyceride conversion treated together with the used cooking oil, as well as determine the best catalyst from two catalysts with different Mo/Ni ratios to produce green avtur with properties which complies with the Indonesian Nasional Standard. Both catalysts were tested for activity in the reactor with operating conditions of liquid hourly space velocity 1 h-1; 20 bar pressure, under 330, 340, and 350 °C. The product properties were tested according to green avtur specifications. The best catalyst of Mo/Ni ratio of 3.87% produced green avtur with a sulfur content of 2 ppm and specifications in accordance with the standards.
