Abstract: Ships are an important means for fishing business. All fishing activities are carried out on fishing vessels such as operating and storing fishing gear, storing caught fish, storing fishing supplies and resting places for ship crews. The shape and size of fishing vessels in Indonesia are very diverse. Depending on the habits of fishermen, the area where the boat is built and operated, and the fishing gear used. In West Aceh Regency, there are fishing boats of various sizes and the fishing gear used is nets and fishing rods. This study aims to identify the shape and calculate the stability of fishing vessels measuring less than or equal to 10 gross tonnage (GT) at the Fish Landing Base (PPI) Ujong Baroh, West Aceh Regency. This identification is intended as a basic reference in formulating local wisdom boat designs for fishermen in West Aceh Regency. The existence of this reference ship design can help the government and other parties in providing aid vessels for fishermen in West Aceh Regency that are in accordance with the needs and habits of the fishermen themselves. The method used is direct observation and measurement of fishing vessels. Data analysis was carried out descriptively numerically and qualitatively. The sample vessels were set as 51 units of fishing vessels with a size of 1-5 GT and 31 units of vessels with a size of 6-10 GT. It was identified that fishing boats in Aceh Barat Regency have a transom shape lengthwise, while transversely there are two forms of ship rafters, namely round bottom and round flat bottom. The main dimension ratios of fishing boats owned by fishermen at PPI Ujong Baroh belong to the static gear groups. The ratio of the main dimensions of the ship group of 6- 10 GT is smaller than the group of ships with a size of 1-5 GT. All fishing boats in West Aceh have the shape of a raked bow bow and a cruiser stern. The steering wheel used is an iron stick steering wheel with a single steering leaf made of iron flats. The stability of the ship owned by the PPI Ujong Baroh fisherman has a positive value, meaning that the ship can return to its original position after an oleg occurs. The parameter values for the stability of fishing vessels at PPI Ujong Baroh have met the criteria suggested by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Kapal merupakan sarana penting bagi usaha penangkapan ikan. Semua aktivitas nelayan dilakukan di atas kapal penangkap ikan seperti mengoperasikan dan menyimpan alat tangkap, menyimpan ikan hasil tangkapan, menyimpan perbekalan melaut dan tempat istirahat awak kapal. Bentuk dan ukuran kapal penangkap ikan di Indonesia sangat beragam. Tergantung dengan kebiasaan nelayan, daerah dimana kapal tersebut dibuat dan dioperasikan, serta alat tangkap yang digunakan. Di Kabupaten Aceh Barat terdapat kapal penangkap ikan dengan berbagai ukuran dan alat tangkap yang digunakan berupa jaring dan pancing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk dan menghitung stabilitas kapal penangkap ikan berukuran 10 GT di Pangkalan Pendaratan Ikan (PPI) Ujong Baroh Kabupaten Aceh Barat. Identifikasi ini dimaksudkan sebagai dasar acuan dalam merumuskan desain kapal kearifan lokal bagi nelayan di Kabupaten Aceh Barat. Keberadaan desain kapal acuan ini, dapat membantu pemerintah maupun pihak lain dalam menyediakan kapal bantuan bagi nelayan di Kabupaten Aceh Barat yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan kebiasaan nelayan itu sendiri. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi dan pengukuran langsung terhadap kapal milik nelayan. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif numerik dan kualitatif. Sampel kapal ditetapkan sebanyak 51 unit kapal penangkap ikan dengan ukuran 1-5 GT dan 31 unit kapal dengan ukuran 6-10 GT. Terindentifikasi bahwa kapal nelayan di Kabupaten Aceh Barat memiliki bentuk transom secara membujur, sedangkan secara melintang terdapat dua bentuk kasko kapal, yaitu round bottom dan round flat bottom. Rasio dimensi utama kapal ikan milik nelayan di PPI Ujong Baroh termasuk ke dalam kelompok kapal static gear. Rasio dimensi utama kelompok kapal 6-10 GT lebih kecil dibandingkan kelompok kapal dengan ukuran 1-5 GT. Semua kapal nelayan di Aceh Barat memiliki bentuk linggi haluan raked bow dan linggi buritan cruiser. Kemudi yang digunakan berupa kemudi tongkat besi dengan daun kemudi tunggal yang terbuat dari flat besi. Stabilitas kapal milik nelayan PPI Ujong Baroh memiliki nilai yang positif, artinya kapal dapat kembali ke posisi semula setelah terjadi oleg. Nilai parameter stabilitas kapal nelayan di PPI ujong Baroh sudah memenuhi kriteria yang disarankan oleh International Maritime Organization (IMO).
