The Bone Bay connects the administrative area of South Sulawesi Province on the west side with Southeast Sulawesi on the east side of the bay. The orientation of the bay that opens towards the Flores Sea on the south side causes recirculation of the Indonesian Through Flow (ITF) originating from the Makassar Strait and the monsoon circulation are considered to affect the Bone Bay dynamics. This bay has unique oceanographic characteristics such as high primary productivity followed by abundance of catches of important pelagic fish such as skipjack and tuna. Continuous monitoring of changes in the quality of the marine environment in the bay area needs to be studied through the determination of the ocean health index (OHI). The objective of this study is to describe the characteristics of several physical oceanographic parameters, to estimate the trend of oceanographic parameters and to calculate the OHI value in the Bone Bay using the model output data of the 3-dimensional ocean general circulation model INDESO and Copernicus between 2008-2018 (10 years). The results showed that the oceanographic characteristics of Bone Bay are characterized by strong seasonal variations, where during the northwest monsoon (NWM) period sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface height (SSH) are maxima, 29.93 oC and 0.7 m, respectively, but the salinity is minimum (33.23 psu). In contrast, during the southeast monsoon (SEM) period SST and SSH 28.44 oC and 0.6 m, respectively, and salinity is maximum (33.26 psu). The variation of transport volume between the inner bay and the outer bay shows the mean flow northward during the second monsoon break (October) and the mean flow of 0.030 Sv (1 Sv = 106 m3/s) is southward during the NWM period (February). The trend of oceanographic time-series data (2008-2018) in Bone Bay tends to decrease, for example SST trend is about -0.0028 oC/year, trend of salinity is about -0.0012 psu/year, and sea level height is about -0.0236 m/year. The status of OHI in the Bone Bay, based on an estimated SST of 1.00, salinity of 1.01, and sea level height of 1.15, is classified as in good level.
