Keji beling plant has long been used for the treatment of diseases in human, but research regarding the benefits of the keji beling plant as an antidiarrheal are still few. The purpose of this study was to evaluate scientifically the effect of keji beling leaf infusion as an antidiarrheal with intestinal protection and intestinal transit method in mice. This study used 36 mice which were divided into six groups consisting of a negative control group (Tween 80 [1%]), a positive control group (loperamide HCl suspension), and four groups of treatment with a keji beling leaf infusion concentration of 12,5%, 25%, 50%, and 100% given orally. The parameters observed were the frequency of defecation, the consistency of faeces, and the ratio of marker passages in the intestines of mice. Based on intestinal protection method, infusion of keji beling leaf with concentrations of 12.5%, 25%, and 50% has an antidiarrheal effect, while in the intestinal transit method only the infusion of keji beling leaf with concentration of 50% has an antidiarrheal effect. Based on the two methods, infusion of keji beling leaf at a concentration of 50% showed the most effective antidiarrheal effect.
