Jasmine is one of the Indonesia's superior floriculture commodity. Indonesia has various species, variety and accessions of jasmine that have not been explored for their potentials as sources of essential oil industry. The development of the jasmine essential oil industry in Indonesia has also been supported by the large harvested area and the availability of various varieties of jasmine. However, very limited studies have been conducted to identify the characteristics of jasmines and their potential as the source of essential oil. Therefore, this study aims to obtain information on the agronomic and morphological character, and quality of essential oils to determine the suitability of jasmine as raw material for essential oils based on the national standards. Four variety of jasmine (Telur/Tuscany, Kampung, Emprit Bandar Arum, and Star Jasmine) were cultivated for 4 months; their flowers were extracted using the enfleurage method. Jasminum sambac Grand Duke of Tuscany is superior compared to the other varieties in the plant height, individual flower weight, oil yield, and flower fragrance. However, its flower length is shorter than the national standard. In addition, Tuscany Jasmine has a low flower yield compared to other varieties. Melati Kampung has higher flower yields (total number and the total weight of flowers) and more intense flower fragrance; its flower also has characters that have met the national quality standards. Melati Emprit Bandar Arum only has an advantage in plant height character. Star jasmine has a different morphology compared to the other jasmine varieties; it has the largest number of secondary branches and leaves, but the flowers are not fragrant. Based on the results of this study, Kampung Jasmine is the most suitable jasmine according to the standardization of jasmine flowers as an essential oil raw material based on the quality guide standards of fresh jasmine flowers for industrial uses.id
