dc.description.abstractUpaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi dampak buruk limbah plastik adalah daur ulang (recycle) plastik menjadi produk baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan identifikasi dan karakterisasi limbah anorganik di Kampus IPB Darmaga, merancang bangun dan melakukan uji unjuk kerja alat peleleh limbah plastik, dan mengolah limbah plastik menjadi paving block dan pot tanaman. Identifikasi dan karakterisasi dilakukan terhadap sampah anorganik di Kampus IPB Darmaga dengan fraksi terbesar adalah sampah plastik campur mencapai 36,13%. Berat jenis sampah plastik campur adalah 0,0112 kg/L. Alat peleleh plastik dirancang dengan kapasitas 12 kg. Alat peleleh plastik terdiri atas kerangka meja dan ruang pelelehan berbentuk tabung tertutup. Alat tersebut terbuat dari material besi, dilengkapi dengan termometer dan pipa keluaran. Uji unjuk kerja memperlihatkan bahwa alat sudah berfungsi dengan baik. Titik leleh plastik tercapai pada suhu 180 0C. Plastik yang sudah meleleh dapat dibuat menjadi pot tanaman maupun digunakan sebagai bahan tambahan paving block.id
dc.description.abstractThe solution that can be done to reduce the bad impact of plastic waste is to recycle plastic into new products. This study aimed to identify and characterize inorganic waste at the IPB Darmaga Campus, to design and test the performance of a plastic waste melting device, and to process plastic waste into paving blocks and plant pots. Identification and characterization were carried out on inorganic waste at the IPB Darmaga Campus and it was found that the largest fraction was mixed plastic waste, reaching 36,13%. The density of mixed plastic waste measured was 0,0112 kg/L. The plastic melter is designed with a capacity of 12 kg. The plastic melter consists of a table frame and a closed tubular melting chamber. The tool is made of iron material, equipped with a thermometer and output pipe. The performance test showed that the tool is functioning properly. The melting point of plastic is reached at 180 0C. Melted plastic can used to make plant pots or used as additional material for paving blocks.id
