Oil palm expansion is an act of enlarging or expanding the area for planting new plantations with the aim of increasing oil palm production. The expansion has an impact that requires farmers to adapt so that their household economy can be sustainable The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of oil palm plantation expansion on the adaptation strategy of smallholder households, and the role of women in the adaptation strategy of smallholder households in response to the expansion of oil palm plantations. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach with a survey method supported by a qualitative approach. The research respondents were 30 farmer households in Sinar Timur Hamlet, Sungai Paduan Village were affected by the expansion of oil palm plantations of PT. X. The results showed that there is a high level and positive relationship between the impact of expansion and household adaptation strategies. This means that the relationship between the two unidirectional variables shows that the higher the impact of oil palm plantation expansion, the greater the adaptation strategy carried out by farmers households. Furthermore, there is the role of women in the adaptation strategy and women's involvement has a relationship at a moderate and positive level with the level of sustainability of farmers household adaptation strategies. This means that the relationship between the two variables is in the same direction which shows that the greater the involvement of women in the household, the more sustainable the farmer's household adaptation strategy.
