The rhinoceros hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros Linnaeus 1758) is one of the largest birds in Asia. The rhinoceros hornbill population is decreasing due to reduced forest cover. It is necessary to estimate the potential habitat of this species for future management information. One hundred species coordinate data obtained from the library and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) website were used in the modeling along with the variables of elevation, slope, rainfall, distance from roads, distance from settlements, distance from rivers, NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), and land cover. The rhinoceros hornbill habitat suitability model yielded an AUC (Area Under Curve) value of 0.898. The characteristics of rhinoceros hornbill habitat in Sumatra are hills or mountains, dense forest density, primary or secondary forest and moderate rainfall, and close to rivers. Aceh and Lampung are provinces with high habitat suitability potential because there are protected areas in Gunung Leuser National Park and South Bukit Barisan.
