Title: Respon Fisiologis dan Tingkah Laku Domba Batur dan Priangan pada Sistem Penggembalaan Semi Intensif

Abstract: Perbedaan jenis domba berpengaruh terhadap respon fisiologis dan tingkah laku selama penggembalaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi perbedaan respon fisiologis dan tingkah laku domba batur dan priangan sebelum dan setelah penggembalaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 5 ekor domba batur dan 7 ekor domba priangan. Suhu rektal, denyut jantung dan respirasi diamati sebelum dan setelah penggembalaan sedangkan tingkah laku ingestive, lokomosi, panting dan resting diamati selama penggembalaan menggunakan teknik focal sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji T untuk membedakan bangsa domba (Batur dan Priangan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan respon fisiologis laju respirasi domba batur setelah penggembalaan mengalami peningkatan sangat nyata lebih tinggi (P<0,01) dibandingkan dengan domba priangan. Tingkah laku lokomosi domba priangan sangat nyata lebih tinggi (P<0,01) dibandingkan domba batur. Namun tingkah laku panting domba priangan nyata lebih rendah (P<0,05) dibandingkan dengan domba batur. Penggembalaan semi intensif menyebabkan domba batur mengalami peningkatan laju respon fisiologis yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan domba priangan. Domba batur lebih dominan menunjukkan tingkah laku panting dan resting dibandingkan domba priangan, namun lebih sedikit melakukan tingkah laku lokomosi selama penggembalaan.
Different types of sheep affect the physiological response and behavior during grazing. This study aims to evaluate differences in physiological responses and behavior of Priangan and Batur sheep before and after grazing. This study used 5 Batur sheep and 7 Priangan sheep. Rectal temperature, heart rate and respiration were observed before and after grazing while ingestive, locomotion, panting and resting behaviors were observed during grazing using focal sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the T test to determine the differences between the breeds of sheep (Batur and Priangan). The results showed that the physiological response of the respiration rate of Batur sheep after grazing was significantly higher (P<0,01) than Priangan sheep. The locomotion behavior of the Priangan sheep was significantly higher (P<0,01) than Batur sheep. However, the panting behavior of the Priangan sheep was significantly lower (P<0,05) than Batur sheep. Semi-intensive grazing caused Batur sheep have a higher physiological response rate than Priangan sheep. Batur sheep are more likely to do panting and resting behavior than Priangan sheep, but tend to do less locomotion behavior during grazing.
