Abstract: Bakteri Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) merupakan agen penyebab penyakit paratuberkulosis yang menyerang ruminansia. Penyakit ini menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi berupa penurunan produksi susu dan karkas, pengafkiran hewan dan penurunan kualitas genetik. Salah satu komoditas ternak di Kabupaten Sumba Timur adalah kerbau. Keberadaan penyakit MAP ini belum pernah dilaporkan sebelumnya di Sumba Timur. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui infeksi MAP melalui deteksi keberadaan antibodi anti-MAP pada kerbau di Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Sebanyak 36 sampel serum darah kerbau dari sepuluh kecamatan digunakan sebagai sampel. Keberadaan antibodi anti-MAP diuji dengan metode Indirect Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Berdasarkan hasil uji menunjukkan satu sampel dari kecamatan Karera diduga memiliki antibodi anti MAP dengan nilai %S/P sebesar 68,96, sedangkan sampel asal sembilan kecamatan lainnya tidak terdeteksi adanya antibodi anti-MAP. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa infeksi paratuberkulosis tidak terjadi di Kabupaten Sumba Timur.
Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis bacteria is causative agent of paratuberculosis disease which attack ruminant. This disease causes high economic losses such as decrease milk production and carcass, animal abandonment and decrease genetic quality. One of the livestock commodities in East Sumba Regency is buffalo. The presence of this disease has never been previously reported in East Sumba. This study was conducted to determine the presence of antibodies in buffaloes in East Sumba Regency. A total of 36 samples of buffalo blood serum from ten districts were used as samples. The presence of MAP infection was observed by the presence of anti-MAP antibodies using the Indirect Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. Based on the test results, it showed that one sample from Karera sub-district was suspected to have anti-MAP antibodies with a% S/P value of 68.96, while samples from nine other districts had no detectable anti-MAP antibodies. This study proves that paratuberculosis infection does not occur in East Sumba Regency.
