Worms are invertebrates that live in soil and contains high nutrition. It used as additives in animal feed, beauty industry, and health industry. This research was conducted to see the effect of using containers with different basic materials to the productivity of Eisenia fetida. The research was conducted using three different types of container materials, which is zinc, plastic, and wood. The research was conducted experimentally in the similar environment and time for four weeks. The variables that will be tested in this study are body weight gain and number of cocoons for each container. The results showed that the different types of basic materials making up the container had no effect on the productivity of the Eisenia fetida worm. The productivity of Eisenia fetida worms in wooden containers was slightly higher than other containers, this was due to the optimal condition of the worm's living media with an average temperature of around 23,48°C–24,76°C, pH 6,70–7,17, and humidity 77%-79%. The condition of the media in the zinc and plastic containers still met the ideal conditions for earthworms to live, which caused the difference in the material that made up the container did not affect the productivity of the Eisenia fetida worm. |
