Abstract: Unsur organik yang menyusun tanah gambut membuat tekstur tanah gambut berserat dan memiliki kadar air yang tinggi. Akibatnya, gambut memiliki kompresibilitas yang tinggi, namun kepadatan, kekuatan geser, dan daya dukungnya rendah. Oleh karena itu tanah gambut memiliki daya dukung dan kuat geser yang kecil. Beberapa metode perbaikan tanah gambut telah banyak dilakukan namun kurang ramah lingkungan,tidak ekonomis, dan tidak berkelanjutan. Metode calcite precipitation merupakan salah satu metode alternatif berkelanjutan dengan pengendapan kalsium karbonat (CaCO3). Metode ini diketahui mampu meningkatkan kuat geser tanah hingga 20% dan mampu mengurangi permeabilitas tanah secara signifikan pada tanah organic dibandingkan dengan tanpa calcite precipitation. Larutan grouting yang dicampur kedalam tanah, terdiri dari kalsium klorida, dan kedelai sebagai katalis. Parameter kuat geser yaitu nilai kohesi dan sudut gesek dalam diuji dengan pengujian geser langsung setelah curing time tercapai. Tanah dengan larutan perbaikan setelah curing time selama 7 hari, 14 hari, dan 21 hari mendapat nilai kohesi berturut-turut sebesar 41 kPa, 49 kPa, dan 62 kPa. Nilai kohesi tersebut mengalami peningkatan dari tanah tanpa larutan perbaikan sebesar 34 kPa. Terjadi peningkatan nilai sudut gesek dalam treatment soil namun terjadi penurunan pada 7 hari.
Organic elements that compose peat make the texture of peat fibrous and high in water content. As a result, peat has high compressibility, but low density, shear strength, and bearing capacity. Several methods of peat soil improvement have been implemented but are less environmentally friendly, uneconomical, and unsustainable . Calcite precipitation method is one of the alternative sustainable methods by depositing calcium carbonate (CaCO3). This method is known to be able to increase soil shear strength by up to 20% and to significantly reduce soil permeability in organic soils compared to without calcite precipitation. The grouting solution is mixed into the soil, consisting of calcium chloride and kedelais as a catalyst t. The shear strength parameters, namely the cohesion value and internal friction angle, were tested by direct shear test after the curing time was reached. Soil with repair solution after curing time for 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days received cohesion values of 41 kPa, 49 kPa, and 62 kPa, respectively. The cohesion value has increased from the soil without repair solution by 34 kPa. There was an increase in the angle of internal friction of treatment soil. However, there was a decrease at day 7.
