Wet service factor is one of the adjusment factor used in wood construction structures analysis if the construction serves at wet conditions. This study aims to compare the mechanical properties of timber structural construction in wet and dry conditions and to determine the value of the wet service factor empirically. The selected timber was Indonesian local species such as red meranti (Shorea spp.), mahogany (Swietenia spp.), agathis (Agathis spp.), and pine (Pinus spp.). The mechanical properties tested include: static bending (MOE and MOR), shear parallel to grain, tension parallel to grain, compression parallel to grain, and compression perpendicular to grain. The physical properties tested include moisture content (MC), density, and specific gravity. The wet service factor value in this study ranged from 0.57 to 0.74. The wet service factor for each MOE, MOR, shear parallel to grain, tension parallel to grain, compression parallel to grain, compression perpendicular to grain (proportion) and compression perpendicular to grain (0,04 inch), are 0.57, 0.74, 0.64, 0,71, 0.66, 0.64, and 0.64. The t-test student test shows that the wet service factor value obtained from this study is generally lower than the value designated by SNI 7973: 2013.
