      Abstract
Drymis plants are used as medicine in Arfak ethnic, Papua, to increase aphrodisiac. These plants grow in Arfak mountains. The local people use it continuously harvested from the forest without carrying out the cultivation of these plants which can endanger its existence. The objectives of this study were to describe morphological characteristics of Drymis species growing at different altitudes to analyze the chemical content and to provide scientific support to which growing different altitudes, to analyze the chemical content and support to local knowledge for the use of Drymis as aphrodisiac. This study used single compartment method which determine purposively to describe Drymis species growing at 1200 m, 1600 m, 2000 m, 2400 m above sea level and it also used GC-MS to analyze its chemical content. There were 3 species of Drimys found; Drymis winterii. Forst, Drymis piperita. Hook, and Drymis beccariana. Gibbs. There were morphological differences of the species ; on leaf size, tree height, amount of branches, stem diameter, appearance of crown, stem color, shoot color, outside of bark, direction of stem grow, trees architecture model, leaf formation, leaf shape and leaf apex There is differences in leaf apex between species at different elevation. Phenantren 9,10-dimety, although there are differences in chemical profile and content of the stigmaterol, sitosterol among the three species. It concentration at 1600 m above sea level is higher than at 1200 m above sea level. This study also showed that morphological characteristic and secondary metabolite compounds are influenced by the altitudes.
