Sumberdaya udang penaeid dan prospek pengembangannya di Kabupaten Sorong Selatan Propinsi Irian Jaya Barat
Abstract
The South Sorong Regency is a new regency based on the Government Rules No : 26/2002 as a consequence of Sorong Regency expansion. The dominating fishery in this area is shrimps. However, it has not been fully optimized (Fishery Academic Sorong, 2004). The objectives of this study are : (1) To estimate the maximum sustainable yield. (2) To calculate the fishing effort feasibility. (3) To decide the optimum number of fishing unit. (4) To arrange the strategy of sustainable development policy. Swept area method, analysis of effort feasibility, linear goal programming and analytical hierarchy process were used to solve the problem. The result of research show that sustainable stock of penaeid shrimps based on the result analysis, can be concluded that is 12.778,174 ton/year. Shrimp fisheries in South Sorong Regency potential to be developed. To develop shrimp fisheries, the result analysis suggest allocation of fishing gear as below: number of vessel are approximately ketinting (219 units), jolor (217 units), johnson (25 units) and pkp (20 units). The alternative of strategy policy organized by priority as follow : capacity building to fisherman and cooperation with actor, to developed the fishing unit which sustainable of environment, to improve the penaeid shrimps productions, to improve facility and equipments, and to improve the market potency.
