KARAKTERISTIKGENETIK EKSTERNAL AYAM MERAWANG

Abstract

External genetic character of the fowl can used as homogenous of population genetic information and trademark strain . The aim of this research to identify the genetic variation and the control of gene constitution on external character of qualitative traitsi .e. feather color, shank color, and comb type of Merawang local chicken (Bangka Island) . Feather color of Merawang was red, gold, and creamy. Shank color was uniform (100% yellow). The gene frequency of feather color, feather type, and comb type were 0.994, 0.983, and 0.998 respectively. Those qualitative traits are easy to purified because those traits are recessive (homozygote allele) . Control of gene constitution on external character of Merawang fowl was ii ee ss IdId pp. That was same condition with Rhode Island Red breed (QSR value was 0.963). Concluded that the phenotypes of Merawang chicken are Columbian and gold feather, yellow shank and single comb. There is no native Indonesian gene on Merawang fowl
