Abstract

Long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis Raffles 1821) have wide use in biomedical research hence being exported to many countries, such as China and U.S.A. Indonesia is one of many countries that export long-tailed macaque. Even so, they often have conflict with humans. Situ Sangiang which is located at Sangiang Resort in Taman Nasional Gunung Ciremai (Mt. Ciremai National Park) is one of many habitats of long-tailed macaque. This research aims to discover demographical parameters of long-tailed macaque at Situ Sangiang, which are population size, birth rate, mortality rate, sex ratio, and age structure. This research was held at 3-12 March 2015 using concentration count method towards three groups of long-tailed macaque. The data collected from the site indicated that population of long-tailed macaque at Situ Sangiang is 76 individuals with an average size of 25.33 ± 8,40 individuals per group. Sex ratio in the groups are 1:1.4 for makam group, 1:1.5 for cideres group, and 1:1.2 for ranca group with progressive population structure that will ensure the prosperity of long tailedmacaque population.
