      Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Haemonchus contortus infection to white blood cell profile of Javanese thin tail sheep. Twenty males Javanese thin tailed sheep were divided into five groups, namely infected group of 500 L3, 1000 L3, 2000 L3, 4000 L3 and uninfective group as control. The blood and fecal samples were collected from rectum before and three weeks after infection. The blood samples were collected using venoject® from Jugular vein. The fecal samples were collected directly from rectum. The blood samples were examined to determine total of white blood cell (leukocytes) and white blood cell differential, whereas fecal samples to determine egg per gram. The result showed that Haemonchus contortus infections cause an increased total of leukocyte but were not significantly different among of level infection doses (P>0.05). Number of eosinophils were significantly different among uninfected group (P<0.05), but were not significantly different in number of lymphocyte, monocyte, and neutrophil (P>0.05). There where positively correlated significantly between the amount of egg per gram (EPG) and profile of eosinophil (P<0.05), however were negatively correlated significantly between the amount of egg per gram (EPG) and neutrophil’s profile (P<0.05). There where no correlation significantly between the amount of egg per gram (EPG) and profile of white blood cell, lymphocyte, and monocyte (P>0.05).
