      Abstract
Garut sheep is an indigenous species of Sunda’s land biodiversity which has uniques biological character such as rich carcass. However there is lack of information concerning their performance based on body condition score and body weight on garut sheep. For this challenge, we performed body condition score (BCS) and body weights measurement on 80 animals. The result show that BCS of male sheeps were increased followed by ages and body weights; such as 2 (18,22±1,45 kg) for male lambs, 2 (27,88±3,52 kg) for adolescent males and 3 (45,91±3,84 kg) for rams. BCS of female sheeps were increased followed by ages and body weights; 2,1 (20,71±6,47 kg) for female lambs, 2,5 (26,99±2,14 kg) for null para, and 2,6 (35,05±2,14 kg) for gestating animals, except lactating animals (2,1) and flushing animals (1,9). The phenomenon of mild decreasing BCS on flushing animals could be a biological character or a pathological state of garut sheep. In conclusion, increasing BCS of male and female sheeps followed by ages and body weights and the phenomenon of mild decreasing BCS on lactating and flushing animal suggested that further clinical nutritional improvement should be performed.
