      Abstract
Mosquitoes are insects that cause the most health problems in society, as nuisance insects and vector of various diseases such as malaria, dengue hemorrhagic fever, chikungunya, Japanese Encephalitis, dirofilariasis, filariasis, St. Louis Encephalitis and West Nile Virus. Application of zooprophylaxis as the utilization of cattle to divert mosquito bite from human to animal has not been done in Indonesia. This study was aimed to determine the effect of the placement of cattle around houses to reduce mosquitoes biting to human. Mosquitoes collection on human were done by Bare Leg Collection (BLC) around the houses with and without cattle placement. In the meantime, mosquitoes which come to cattle caught by Magoon trap. The result showed that the density of Cx. sitiens which known as vector of Japanese Encephalitis was 12,05 mosquitoes/man/hour at the houses with cattle and was 16,31 mosquitoes/man/hour at houses without cattle, and very high in cattle was 54,38 mosquitoes/cattle/hour. Density of Anopheles which known as vector of malaria did not show the difference between around houses with and without cattle placement. An. vagus density at house with or without cattle were same (0,01 mosquitoes/man/hour), but very high at cattle (6,12 mosquitoes/cattle/hour). This research showed that placement of cattle as zooprophylaxis application has good potency to reduce mosquito contact to human, which is means it could reduce mosquitoes borne diseases transmission.
