      Abstract
      Pemakaian selulosa asetat sebagai polimer membran masih terus berkembang dan menempati bagian yang penting dalam teknologi membran. Penelitian ini menggunakan selulosa asetat dari selulosa diasetat (SDA) yang disintesa dari pulp kayu sengon dengan teknik inversi fasa. Sebagai porogen ditambahkan Polyethylene glycol (PEG) serta pelarut N,N-Dimethyl formamide (DMF). Karakteristik membran yang diamati meliputi struktur dan morfologi, kekuatan tarik serta ukuran pori. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa besarnya rasio PEG/SDA, BM PEG dan suhu koagulasi akan mempengaruhi pembentukan pori membran. Penambahan PEG akan mencegah terbentuknya makrovoid pada membran dan struktur morfologi lebih rapat. Penggunaan suhu koagulasi yang rendah juga memberikan struktur morfologi yang lebih rapat. Membran yang dihasilkan adalah jenis ultrafiltrasi dengan ukuran pori maksimal 67 kDa. UF selulosa asetat ini dapat meningkatkan kadar Patchouli Alcohol (PA) dalam minyak nilam hingga 49%, serta menurunkan kehilangan siklodekstrin hingga 12-28%.
       
      Cellulose acetate is a polymer that has been used widely in membrane technology. The research was utilised cellulose diasetat made from Sengon wood pulp and used a phase inversion technique to form cellulose acetate membrane. Polyethylene glycol and N,NDimethyl formamide (DMF) were added as a porogen and solvent. The structure, morfology, tensile strength and pore size of the produced membrane describe the membrane characteristic. Membrane pore size was influenced by the rasio of PEG/SDA, molecular weight of PEG and coagulation temperature. The addition of PEG could prevent the macrovoid and construct more dense morfology structure of the membrane. Low coagulation temperature also produce more dense membrane. The molecular weight of the ultrafiltration membrane obtained was maksimum of 67 kDa. The Patchouli Alcohol content in the Patchouli oil would increase up to 49%, while cyclodextrin rejection reduce to 12 – 28% in the purification processes.
