      Abstract
      Pesuteraan alam tidak dapat dipisahkan dari tanaman murbei. Murbei sebagai pakan ulat sutera juga memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan menjadi by-product bagi para petani sutera. Beberapa penelitian terkini menyatakan bahwa daun murbei memiliki manfaat bagi kesehatan karena memiliki potensi sebagai fitofarmaka (herbal medicine). Salah satu bentuk herbal medicine dari daun-daunan adalah teh. Teh yang berasal dari daun murbei berkhasiat untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah penderita diabetes mellitus. Selain itu, uji toksisitas yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa teh murbei termasuk dalam kategori tidak toksik. Dalam kondisi. Institusi yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini adalah Pusat Penelitian Teh dan Kina (PPTK) Gambung, Bandung dan Teaching Farm Sutera Alam – IPB, Sukamantri, Bogor. Peran PPTK adalah tempat pengolahan teh mulberry, sedangkan peran teaching farm adalah sebagai pemasok daun murbei serta pemasaran produk jadi. Pengemasan teh murbei dilakukan dengan memberdayakan masyarakat desa lingkar kampus IPB. Hasil dari kegiatan ini memperlihatkan keberhasilan dalam upaya penambahan income petani murbei serta pemberdayaan masyarakat, khususnya ibu-ibu di sekitar lingkar kampus IPB. Mereka kini memiliki penghasilan sendiri tanpa menyita banyak waktu, dan dapat dilakukan di dalam rumah.
       
      Sericulture can’t be separated with mulberry tree. Mulberry as a feed for silkworm, has great potential to be developed as by-products for farmers silk. Several recent studies have claimed that the mulberry leaf health benefits because it has potential as fitofarmaka (herbal medicine). One form of herbal medicine is the tea leaves. Tea derived from mulberry leaves efficacious to lower blood glucose levels of diabetes mellitus. In addition, toxicity tests have shown that mulberry tea are included in the category are not toxic. Institutions involved in these activities is the Research Center for Tea and Quinine (PPTK) Gambung, Bandung and Teaching Farm Alam Sutera Sukamantri IPB, Bogor. Role PPTK is where mulberry tea processing, while the farm is a teaching role as a supplier of mulberry leaf and marketing of finished products. The packaging of Mulberry tea is done by empowering the rural community. The results showed the success of this activity in an effort to increase income farmers' mulberry and community empowerment, particularly of women around the circumference IPB campus. They now have their own income without taking up much time, and can be done in the house.
