Tegal Regency is a city that is experiencing rapid development. This development makes things such as people’s activities and transportation increases. It tends to ignore the presence of lands that have vegetation. It makes carbondioxide (CO2) gas emission from transportation and people increases. Urban forest concept is one of effective and efficient way to improve life quality in urban areas through its ability to absorb the CO2 from the air. This research was to explore optimal area of urban forest based on CO2 emissions that are generated by oil and gas fuel and humans. This research was done by field observation and literature studies. CO2 emissions in Tegal on 2011 amounted to 66 879 965.11 ton, so urban forest area that needed tends to 1 148 004.12 ha. Tegal Regency now have 1.03 ha of urban forest area, so it needs to be enhanced. CO2 emissions increases each year. It will reach to 80 427 512.27 ton on 2025, so it requires 1380549.70 ha of urban forest area on that year.
