Strategi Adaptasi Nelayan Pelabuhanratu terhadap Perubahan Iklim

Abstract

The impact of climate change can be seen in the phenomenon of rising sea levels, changes in sea surface temperature, sea water salinity and weather patterns, as well as changes in rainfall and hydrological patterns. Fishermen in Pelabuhanratu perceive the climate change impacts as the frequent storms, a sudden weather changes, and reduce of catches. Consequently, it will reduce the household income from fishery activity. To cope with the impact of climate change, fisher communityin Pelabuhanratuperforms adaptation strategiesin various ways, such as: diversification, intensification, mobilization of household members, social relations, and sell and pawn valuables. The types of adaptation strategies perform by the fisher community in Pelabuhanratu are different according to social classes they belong to, as each social class owns different social characteristics. In Pelabuhanratu, fisher communitybelongs to three social classes: modern equip fisher, traditional equip fisher, and none equip fisher or labor.
