Rencana Revitalisasi Lanskap Kota Tuo Sawahlunto, Provinsi Sumatera Barat.
Abstract
Indonesia has many old colonial cities, one of which is part of Sawahlunto city. The town has a strong dutch colonial history and culture but due to the rapid development of the city, some of the relics have been experiencing changes and damage so needed landscape revitalization effort. Revitalization landscape aims to improve the landscape of the old town towards the modern standards but still respecting and maintaining those old colonial of history and culture character. This research based on landscape historical approach with descriptive research methods (quantitative) either by conducting interviews to obtain data, perform direct observation in the area as well as conduct studies of the literature. From the results of the analysis that has been done, the old town of Sawahlunto experienced extensive change, shape and city planning, population, and economic, social and cultural. However, this town has a value of uniqueness and originality but has undergone little change. For it needs to be done to revitalize the old city's efforts to boost values of authenticity and uniqueness. The value of the originality of the “Kota Tuo Sawahlunto” can be improved by maintaining and revitalizing land use pattern, the pattern of settlements, buildings, and patterns of circulation. While the value of the uniqueness of the “Kota Tuo Sawahlunto” can be increased by keeping the historical relations and revitalize the owned elements/cityscape, keeping the integrity of the historical landscape elements that form a unity of the historical landscape with a strong character, keeping the historic landscape elements of the diversity of societies, as well as maintaining the quality of aesthetics. Revitalization Program that can help improve and maintain the city's characteristics: (1) improve the physical beauty of the area by restoring the cityscape on colonial forms; (2) implement new activities in the area that is closely related to community involvement; and (3) provide input on policy orders to local governments to support the planning and supervise the activities of its implementation.
