Pengaruh Konsentrasi Colchicine Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dendrobium spectabile Dalam Kultur in vitro

Abstract

Dendrobium spectabile is one of orchid species that can be found in Irian Jaya and Solomon Islands. This orchid has high economic value because of the unique and appealing shape. One of effective alternative to increasing productivity of D. spectabileis using in vitro culture with adding colchicine. Plants were given colchicines could generate changes in physical form as the leaves grow larger and the growth much faster. The purpose of this research is to identify the effect of colchicine concentration to the growth levels of Dendrobium spectabile in in vitro culture. The concentrates of colchicines which used in this research are 0,5 mg/l, 1,0 mg/l, 1,5 mg/l, and 2,0 mg/l. Data collected were the number of live explants, height, number of leaves, changing color of leaves, and large of leaves. The result of this research indicates that the concentration of colchicine gives a real effect to the height of explants and the number of leaves. To know better in changes of plants significantly, needs to do further research about adding colchicines concentration, the length of time that required in research, and diverse media treatment.
