      Regional Study for Small Industry Development Based on Supreme Commodities of Agriculture in Majalengka Regency.

      Abstract
      Agriculture is a basic sector in Majalengka Regency, but it still has a weak sectoral linkages with agro-processing industries. On the other hand, a region development requires the presence of a synergistic integration among economic sectors to avoid stagnation state. This study aimed to : (1) identify the comparative-competitive of agricultural leading commodities based on acreage, (2) identify the land suitability for commodity development; (3) identify the villages based for small industries agro-processing, (4) identify the villages having high level of the facilities services and accessibility for supporting industry; (5) determine the sites for small industries and its commodity development. The analytical methods used were analysis of the location quotient (LQ), shift share analysis (SSA), schallogram analysis and land suitability analysis. The study focused on commodities of agricultural i.e. corn, mango, soybean, bananas and melinjo. The results showed that corn was superior in six districts, mango was superior in 13 districts, soybean was superior in one district and bananas was superior in two districts. However, no district was superior to melinjo. There were 21,837 ha of land that phisically suitable for corn, 53,049 ha for mango, 4,074 ha for soybean and 15,837 ha for banana. There were 179 villages classified as basic for small agro-processing industries. Villages with the high level of facilities services and accessibility consisted of 44 villages. There were 7 industrial villages and 8 industrial areas (consisted of several villages), that could be developed as a small industries in the region based on agricultural supreme commodities. The priority areas for commodity development comprise 2,827 hectares for corn, 15,221 hectares for mango, 3,328 hectares for soybean and 304 hectares for bananas.
