Corncob and palm coconut shell are agricultural waste rich of carbon compounds such as like cellulose that are potentially uses as raw materials for activated carbon and as substitute for graphite electrode in carbon paste. Chemical activation was performed by submersion in KOH 10% and 30% and physical activation by steam at temperature 800oC for 100 minutes. Performance of theactivated carbon as materials carbon paste electrode was tested in cyclic voltammetry. The results showed that the activated carbon of corncob was better than that of the palm coconut shell. Iodine adsorption complies the SNI 1995 (≥650 mg/g). X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the corncob activated carbon was amorphous with crystalinity of each treatment was 38.34%, 33.67%, and 38.89%, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry test showed cyclic pattern, but response for current peak of redox was still weak. This indicates that the activated carbon can be used for electrode carbon paste material.
