Pendugaan Potensi Massa Karbon Hutan Alam Tropika Rawa Gambut di Areal IUPHHK-HA PT. Diamond Raya Timber, Dumai, Provinsi Riau
Abstract
One type of forest types which has potential in carbon sequestration and storage is peat swamp forest. The purpose of this study was to calculate the potential and distribution of carbon mass in the peat swamp forest area of IUPHHK-HA PT. Diamond Raya Timber, Dumai, Riau Province. Estimation potential total of carbon mass in forests 90 956 ha area are 8 055 234 tons. Distribution of carbon mass in the peat forests of this area are classified into four classes, consist of very high, high, medium, and low. Very high carbon mass class is over 272.54 ton ha-1, high carbon mass class is between 177.80 ton ha-1 and 272.53 ton ha-1, medium carbon mass class is between 118.82 ton ha-1 and 177.79 ton ha-1, and low carbon mass class is less than 118.82 ton ha-1. The distribution of the carbon mass potential according to the carbon mass classes are as follows in high class area 6 200 ha with carbon mass stock of 1 302 097 tons, in medium class area 18 100 ha with carbon mass stock of 2 550 718 tons, in low class area 60 400 ha with carbon mass stock of 4 202 419 tons.
