Dampak Keberadaan Industri Peleburan Besi dan Baja terhadap Lingkungan dan Kesehatan Masyarakat di Dusun Palahlar, Kecamatan Cikupa, Kabupaten Tangerang

Abstract

Iron and steel smelting industry in Tangerang causes air pollution which can have a negative impact on the environment and the health of surrounding communities. Therefore, the purposes of the study were to: (1) identify the impact of pollution on the environment, (2) determine the impact of pollution on public health, (3) determine the impact of pollution on the proper value of compensation received by the community, (4) analyze the factors that affect the amount of compensation, and (5) analyze the factors that affect the decision to move. Analysis used were descriptive, cost of illness, Willingness to Accept (WTA) and regression model and estimated using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) methods. The results show that households with residential distance the closer from the industrial environment feel the worse after the existence of the industry, have the higher total medical incurred expenses and get the highest average value of household WTA. Estimation value of household WTA in the Hamlet Palahlar is influenced by education level, length of stay, distance of residence from the industry, young age, and middle age. Household's decision to move is influenced by the level of education, income, length of stay, and distance of residence from the industry.
