Abstract

Troll line is one of the traditional fishing gear that used for catch pelagic fish with high economical value. Troll line operation by dragging in the water with constant speed, so fish will attracted to the lure and chase it. One of lure that common used in this methode of fish catching is crankbait type of Artificial bait. Artificial bait is more popular than the natural bait, because this kind of bait have more resistant and easy to control it than using the natural bait, and crankbait type is common used because of it characteristic that when this type of lure being dragging by boat, it will be dive to certai depth. This research is to indentify factors that influence the depth of this lure. The results shows that the angel of diving lip have a big influence to the depth of the lure,with the best angel of diving lip is 10º. Other factor that show big differences of lures depth is the amount of the line. The model of the lure with dragging speed and range and the line can be specified with D = - 0.984 + 0.0601 X1 + 0.852 X2. This result may be vary depend on kind of bluff body of the lure, and other conditions.
