Performa Produksi dan Warna Kuning Telur Puyuh Jepang yang diberi Sorgum Putih dan Tepung Daun Singkong
Abstract
Sorghum is cheaper and contains high level of energy but less carotenoid compared to maize. Cassava leaves meal is widely known has high level of carotenoid. The combination of these feed stuffs is expected to subtitute maize in ration. A study was carried out to evaluate the effect of sorghum and cassava leaves meal on production performance of japanese quail. A total of 150 laying japanese quail were used in this experiment which is completely randomized designed with 5 ration treatments and 3 replications. Differences between treatment were further analyzed by Duncan Test. The treatments in ration were 50% maize (P1), white sorghum without cassava leaves meal (P2), white sorghum + 1.5% cassava leaves meal (P3), white sorghum + 3% cassava leaves meal (P4), and white sorghum + 4.5% cassava leaves meal (P5). Traits measured were feed intake, egg production, feed conversion, mortality, egg yolk color and economic analysis. The result showed that feed intake and egg production were significantly higher for the ration contains white sorghum. However, the feed conversion and egg weight was not significantly affected. Egg yolk color improved significantly by increasing addition of cassava leaves meal but lowered egg production. In conclusion, white sorghum can substitute maize and cassava leaves meal can be used to increase egg yolk color
