Respon Fisiologis dan Kinerja Ayam Sentul Umur 9-12 Minggu pada Kandang Bersuhu Netral dan Tinggi

Abstract

Sentul chicken is one of Indonesian native chicken from district of Ciamis which produced eggs and meat. Temperature may influence the physiological response, performance, and behavior of sentul chicken. Sentul chickens consisted of 48 males and females each were placed into two different room temperatures, i.e., neutral and hot. Each house was devided into four pens for male and female. Each pen consisted of six chickenswhich were raised at 23 oC and 30 oC. Variables measured were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and mortality. Rectal temperature and panting were measured. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and any differences were continued to Tukey test. The result showed that rectal temperature was significantly affected by house temperature. Performance of chickens at temperature 30 oC was the same with chickens at temperature 23 oC. Panting behavior was observed only in house with heat treatment. There was no mortality in both housing temperature.
