      Abstract
      Bambara is legume carbohydrate source which can be developed into new crop. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the characters of two landraces bambara groundnut in two different growing environments. The two landraces were obtained from farmers in Sumedang and Sukabumi. The experiments were conducted at Leuwikopo, IPB Darmaga, from June - October 2010. Each plant used as a unit of observation. Each landraces is planted on two environment with different fertilizer dosage, thus forming four different populations. The characters observed were width of canopy, stem length, number of branches, number of nodes, internode length, number of pods, weight of fresh pods/plant and weight of dry pods/plant. Result showed Sumedang landraces in the marginal environment has the potential to be developed based on width of canopy, number of branches, number of node, weight of fresh pods, and weight of dry pods. In Sukabumi landrace, crops in marginal environment has the potential to be developed based on number of pods and crops in optimal environment has the potential to be developed based on petiol length character and internodes length. Result of correlation analysis between the characters, the vegetative characters which consistent positively correlated with the crop yield are the width of canopy and number of nodes.
