Jumlah leukosit, differensiasi leukosit, dan indeks stress Luak Jawa (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus)

Abstract

Common palm civets (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) have the potential to be the best coffee producing animals in Indonesia. Therefore, their health status is very important. Health status of common palm civets can be observed through of their white blood value. This study was aimed to discribe the leukocyte count, it’s differentiation, and stress index of 8 Java common palm civets, 4 males and females. The experiment had done at laboratory of Physiology, department Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University during 7 weeks, sampling was done at weeks 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th, then sample were analyzed for their leukocytes, their differentiation, and their stress index. The average leukocyte count of male and females common palm civets was (3.33±0.86)x103/mm3 and (2.83±0.70)x103/mm3, neutrophil amount of male and female Java common palm civets was (1.01±0.47)x103/mm3 and (0.68±0.30)x103/mm3, basophil did not find at leukocyte differentiation of common palm civets, eosinophil amount of male and female Java common palm civets was (0.16±0.18)x103/mm3 and (0.04±0.05)x103/mm3, lymphocyte amount of male and female Java common palm civets was (2.06±0.42)x103/mm3 and (2.05±0.59)x103/mm3, monocyte amount of male and female Java common palm civets was (0.09±0.06)x103/mm3 and (0.06±0.06)x103/mm3, and stress index was (0.49±0.18) and (0.37±0.22). Generally leukocyte count of male Java common palm civet have higher value than it’s female. The mean of leukocyte count of Java common palm civets was under average leukocyte count of Thailand common palm civets.
