Analisis Reproduksi dan Potensi Kerbau di Kecamatan Cikalongkulon Kabupaten Cianjur

Abstract

Cikalongkulon district has potential to develop buffaloes business because this region widely used for rice fields and plantations. The purpose of this research was to analyze the performance of buffalo reproduction, potential improvement, and farmer’s income from buffalo business. Buffalo reproduction performance known by doing interviews, the results that obtained were: 2.32+0.73 years old for the first puberty, 2.53+0.70 years old for the first conception, 3.47+0.72 years old for the first calving, 54.23+30.62 days period of estrous cycle, 4.00+3.89 hari days of estrous cycle, 11.95+0.20 months of gestation time, estrous and conception after 4,00+3.89 months partus, and 1.96+0.47 months of calving interval. Population of buffalo can still be improved, according to Capacity of Additional Ruminant Population (CARP) value of Cikalongkulon district as much as 121.49 AU. Farmers that own buffalo by themselves received the highest income, especially in scale 6-10 head. The highest income is Rp23.793.500.
