This research aims to study the effect of cropping systems and types of fertilizers on the growth and production of two varieties of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.). The experiment was conducted at IPB Dramaga Leuwikopo KP, Bogor in February-June 2013. Experiments using a split plot design with a treatment consisting of two factors, namely cropping systems as main plots and fertilizer as the subplot. Cropping systems in the main plot consists of two levels, the deep furrow planting and conventional planting. Types of fertilizers on subplot consisted of three levels i.e. chicken manure, chicken manure + Dolomite lime, chicken manure + Dolomite lime + NPK compound. The results showed that the deep furrow planting system increase productivity based on dry kernel weight and dry pod weight better than conventional planting system. This is shown by the productivity of dry pods of Gajah variety of 2.93 tonnes ha-1 at deep furrow planting system than 2.55 tonnes ha-1 at conventional planting system, and for Jerapah variety of 2.61 tonnes ha-1 at deep furrow planting system than 2.22 tonnes ha-1 at conventional planting system. Peanut cultivation by deep furrow planting system can improve efficiency in the use of plant nutrients supplied, both organic and inorganic fertilizers, so that the growth and yield of groundnut better. Fertilizers type of chicken manure + Dolomite lime + NPK compound give better effect on the growth and yield of plants than other fertilizers types.
