Analisis Potensi Pengembangan Peternakan Rakyat Sapi Potong di Kabupaten Garut (Studi Kasus: Peternakan Kecamatan Malangbong)

Abstract

Development of beef cattle breeding need to be conducted in order to fulfill the public demand of beef. The necessary informations to conduct the development of beef cattle breeding are the breeding's potential in every region and economic activities of the farmers in the region. The results of this research declare that farming activities in Kecamatan Malangbong with LQ analysis amounted 6.34 which means it is the highest breeding activities in Kabupaten Garut. The total cost of a private enclosure with a farmers amounting to IDR 30 313 639 and communal cages of IDR 29 710 747. Private cage breeders net income amounting to IDR 6 436 361 with R/C ratio of 1.21 and earning ratios of 21 percent. While the profits communal cages breeders amounted to IDR 7 039 253 with R/C ratio of 1.24 and earning ratios of 24 percent. Calculation of effective KPPTR in Kecamatan Malangbong produce a negative value of -3 150.99. Calculations obtained from the difference between the Maximum KPPTR Livestock Population Unit in Kecamatan Malangbong. Negative result means Kecamatan Malangbong is not able to accommodate the number of ruminant livestock, especially cattle. Then the development of should be implemented in other regions that have a positive KPPTR.
