Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi beach are the main coastal tourism destination in Belitung district for local, domestic and foreign country tourists. That’s why both coastal tourism objects always visited by many tourists and the condition can be saturated when special even is holded there. The saturated condition can stimulates the potential of environment and the beauty of nature degradation there become larger that will threat the sustainability of the tourism it selves. Except for the beautiful beach feature, there are also coral reef ecosystem in both of Tanjung kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi sea water which may have potential becoming marine tourism object for diving and snorkeling that have not been used as a attractive feature to attract the tourists. Therefor, it’s need to be done a research to reveal the potential of the coral reef ecosystem and it’s level of suitability as a marine tourism destination spot for diving and snorkeling. The general goal of this research are to analyse : (1) The condition and the suitability level of coral reef ecosystem that existed in Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi sea water to be develoved as a marine tourism objects for diving and snorkeling. (2) The Ecological carrying cappacity of beach and sand tourism activities at Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi beaches. (3) The ecological carrying cappacity of diving and snorkeling activities on coral reef ecosystems that existed in Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi sea waters. This research is conducted at coastal tourism objects Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi which is sited at Sijuk subdistrict, Belitung district. The methods are used are suitability tourism index and the capacity of tourism destination area to receive and accommodate the visitors. The observation for biological and physics of coral reef community data collecting used line intercept transect method, while the observation and data collecting for reef fishes community uses visual cencus method, and to collect data the extensive of coral reef area and shore area are using Global Possitioning System (GPS) tracking method. Some of physics parameter are measured on the research site. Complemented and comparising datas that are needed are collected by interviewing with the stakeholders. Analysis methods to the datas for knowing the tourism suitability is used matrix method which involved some physic and biological parameters. Analysis methods for shore ecological carrying capacity, coral reef ecosystem, fresh waters and accommodation are counted based on parameters which is collected from the measurements on the sites, then it’s used to determine the better management system descriptively. Average percentage of living coral reef cover at Tanjung Kelayang sea is 78,625%, while at Tanjung Tinggi sea is 76,8%. Those percentage values shows that coral reef ecosystem at Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi sea are rated as a very good category. There is only one area that is categories as very suitable for snorkeling tourism activity, it is the station 4, while the five others are categories as suitable enough. The result of data analysis shows that all the observation stations at Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi sea waters are suitable enough for diving activity. Tanjung Kelayang coastal waters has its carrying capacity as many as 91 visitors per day for the diving activity and 76 visitors per day for snorkeling activity. The lifeform of coral reef presupposing that observation sation 1, 2 and 3 are susceptible enough while the station 4 is very susceptible to be broken by divers fin kicks. Tanjung Tinggi has the carrying capacity for diving and snorkeling activity as many as 182 visitors per day and 152 visitors per day respectively. But then, the coral reef ecosystem at station 5 posses susceptible condition while the station 6 is not susceptible to coral destruction by divers fin kicks. The carrying capacity of shore based tourism activity at Tanjung Kelayang beach is 288 visitors per day while at Tanjung Tinggi is 98 visitors per day. Informations which is collected from the manager of the site says that the average visits of tourists at Tanjung Kelayang beach is at least 300 visitors per day, while at Tanjung Tinggi beach is at least 500 visitors per day. Based on that conditions, it can be said that the visitors of Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi beach are exceed it’s ecological carrying capacity, but, the coral reef ecosystem in the sea water has not been used optimally as a marine tourism object for diving and snorkeling. Those all things presupposing that the managers of the Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi need to optimize the use of sea water area to develop the tourism there. Besides that, it is very needed to build more infrastructure, facility and accommodation for the visitors in quantity and quanlity means.
