Nitrogen is a primary nutrient for growth and production of plants, but if it is in exceed application may decrease the production and quality of pineapple fruit. This research was conducted at Sawah Baru Agriculture Faculty Garden, Bogor Agriculture Institute, since March 2004 until January 2006. The aims of the research were to investigate effect of several Nitrogen doses on N, P, and K absorption, growth and production of pineapple. In this research also aimed to determine an optimum dose and critical threshold level of Nitrogen fertilization for growth and fruit production of pineapple. A Block Randomized Design with three replications in this research was used as it environment design. The treatment consist of five Nitrogen doses were (No) = no fertilization, (N1) = 150 kg/ha N, (N2) = 300 kg/ha N, (N3) = 450 kg/ha N, and (N4) = 600 kg/ha N. Results of the research showed that growth and fruits production was significantly affected by Nitrogen doses tried. Nitrogen and Potassium absorption was increased by Nitrogen application, but no on Phosphor absorption. The optimum dose of Nitrogen fertilization was obtained at 578 kg/ha N for fruits production. The critical threshold of N was 0,65%, while an optimum N level for "D leaf'“of pineapple was 0,93%.
