dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Forages are the main feed mminants, primarily cattle, buffalo, goat and sheep. Farmers in IndonE;sia :ire generally relying on the available forage for livestock naturally, especiaI:y gnss. The experiment was conducted in February - April 2010 with a survey method of primary irrigation along the river Pemali. The irrigation along 30 km from Margasari Districts in the South to Ketanggungan District in the North. Wide flood pldn of 10-20 m, further narrowed to the North. The collection ef dat!. and information through direct observation, discu:;siof! groups, capturing photograph and making forage planting materials. , There are two patteffiS of forage supply, the first wit!1 which the cattle grazing along the waterfron! off fc-r 6-8 hours I day. Livestock are a lot of local cows and sheep. This is ~onsistent with a relatively dry area and the availability of forage grass dom inated. Second, cut and carry, where farmer~ provide additional forage obtained by mowing in the rice field, along the secondary and tertiary irrigation channels, and onions, sugar cane plantation are:!, road and field. In addition there was given primarily agricultural waste rice straw, sugarcane and com. Granting the additionai for~ge when cattie normally enter the cage in the afternoon. Based on field observations, population concentration areas, is also a concentraticn Df livestock. In this aiea dominated by weeds visible plant species that are not favor~c! cattle. Grass grew depressed and open land surface dl!e to the high frequency of cattle pedal. Almost 90% forage grass-dominated types (family Poaceae). There are 22 species of grasses were identified namely domestic yaitu Axonopus compressus P. Beauv., Bothriochloa glabra (Roxb.) A. Camus, Brachiaria mutica (Forssk.) Stapf., Brachiaria subquadripara (Trin.) A. Hitch., Chrysopogon aciculatus (Retz.) Trin., Coix lacryma-Jobi L. , Cynodon dactylon L. (Pers.), Dactylocteniwn aegyptium (L.) WilId.),Digitaria ciliaris L., Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop., Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn., Eragrostis amabilis (L.) Wight & Amott ex Nees, Eulalia trispicata (Schult.) Henrard, 1 cylindrica L., Panicum maximum Jacq., Panicum repens L., Paspalidium jlavf1um (Retz.) A. Camus, Paspalum conjuga:um P. T. Bargius, Paspaium notatwn Fluegge, Rottboellia exaltata (L.) L.f., Saccharum spontaneum L. and Setaria barbata (Lam.) K'.lnth.en
