      Abstract
      Community forests was become a trend in society. One of the interesting issues of the development of community forests are its benefits. Community forests managements are not immune from problems. Farmer’s perceptions about the community forest will be a great influence for the community forest development, because perception is a basic of the formation of attitudes and behaviors. This study aims to describe the management of community forests and farmer's perceptions of the benefits of community forests. The study was conducted in Asih Farmers Group, District Ciampea. Method of selecting respondents in the census on members of farmer groups totaling 38 people. The first stage of the data processing is data tabulating, then performed a descriptive analysis. Results of this study indicate that there are three sub-systems in community forest management activities such as production sub system, processing sub system, and marketing sub system. Production sub system that done by farmers in the land preparation activities such as land clearing and preparation of the planting hole. The planting activities such as seedlings, plants spacing setup, without planting season, and fertilization. The maintenance activities through replanting, weeding, plowing, branch pruning, thinning, fertilization, and also pest and disease exterminating. Results of harvesting and processing activities that done alone was only for personal consumption. Trees are sold in the form of stands with an average price of Rp 300 000 every cubic. The social and economic perceived benefits of community forests has moderate to high criteria, while ecological benefit has high criteria.
